7/15/18. Boondocking next to the loading dock of a Freightliner Service Dealer at Summerside, Prince Edward Island
While waiting for the front passenger side airbag to arrive (no delivery date available yet) we are parked in the back of the Freightliner dealer (along side the loading dock). Not a bad deal. No camping fee, they allowed us to fill our fresh water tank, and provided power.
Also, it is not a bad location and with our toad we have still been able to tour
the North and Eastside of the island.
The downside is:
- The Air Compressor comes on every 3 hours during the night
- It’s not the prettiest of settings, although we can see the Ocean out our front window.
So far we have:
- Toured the local Rec Center. Nice place. May need to use it if we are here for a long stint. Within walking distance of the dealer.
- Frequented the Lobster Festival where:
- We listened to a local Rock Band
- Attended a local Chef’s cooking presentation where we ate haddock (was very good) and lobster (very fishy???)
- Walked to a horse track and watched harness racing. Sandy’s 1st time.
- Walked the local boardwalk 7KM
- Washed clothes at a downtown laundry
- Walked through Downtown and the sidewalk sale
- Ate Poutine. French Fries with gravy and cheese curds. A Northeastern favorite
- Went to the Potato Museum and had lunch
- Toured “Anne of Green Gables” homestead. Famous Prince Edward Island Author.
- Went to Cavendish Beach where the annual 35000 people country music festival occurred the week before we arrived.
Tomorrow
Hope to get an update on our airbag part
- Attend the Price Edward Island “Great Scot” show performed by “The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada”
- Plan what to do into mid to late next week if need be.
- Possibly ride the Tandem Bicycle to the Cabot Trail and put on some miles.
