11/4/2018. Another lesson learned.

When we pulled into Salt Fork State Park we picked the perfect site.  We parked under a beautiful Maple tree full of yellow leaves. Who would of thought that all those beautiful leaves would fall within the two days on top of the COW and Toad.  It was like having 6” of snow on top and completely around the vehicles.

Luckily at the last minute (before we left home), I added a battery operated leaf blower to the list of tools that we carry.

To remove the leaves and the sticks from the top of the roof and keep them from wrapping up in our slide out awning gears etc... I had to get on top of the roof and blow the leaves and stick offs twice.

The lesson we learned:  Although tempting, DO NOT park under a tree ready to loose it leaves during the fall.

  1. Bill and Sandy, we are glad to hear you are off on another adventure. Looks like you have a very full itinerary. We just returned from our Canada Cruise and enjoyed some of the places you reported on in your previous blog. We enjoyed Saint John, the bay of Fundy and Quebec City the most. Lake Placid, NY was very cool as well. We hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip. When you are in Florida please reach out. Although Orlando does not appear to be on your route, we would be glad to meet you for dinner or to just catch up. If your plans do bring you to Orlando you are welcome to come by. If you are up to it we can see if your skiing skills are still as sharp as I remember. Take care for now. I look forward to watching your progress on your trip. Chuck and Georgene

  2. Chuck and Georgene - your trip to the northeast sounds fabulous. We really enjoyed those areas also. We definitely have plans to get together with you. We’ll be based in Ft Myers from Jan 1 - March 31 and will be traveling out from that hub throughout Florida. We can schedule a time with you now or get in touch with you once we get settled down there early January. Looking forward to hearing about the Canada cruise. Has the South America cruise happened yet?

    1. Thanks for answering. Yes we left on out South America Cruise last Thanksgiving and returned early December. It was fantastic. Bill would love the Panama Canal. We hope you have a safe trip and enjoy your holidays without snow. Let's hold off until you guys are settled down in Florida and then we can compare calendars and hopefully get together while you are down here. Keep in touch, Chuck

  3. Just got caught up on your adventures since you left the Potomac! You got out in time! We have had our first rain/sleet/snow storm and currently have a nice 2 inch coating on everything, including the two trees in the backyard that have yet to lose their leaves. Maybe you need to come park your COW under it! LOL Be safe and have an nice Thanksgiving! Penny
